Villahermosa’s environs have incredible natural scenery, which you can fully appreciate on a guided ecotourism outing.

Pantanos de Centla Biosphere Reserve – Located 81 km (50 mi) northwest of Villahermosa. In this protected area you can take a boat tour on the waters of the Usumacinta and Grijalva rivers as you observe various plant and animal species that inhabit the region, including howler monkeys, spider monkeys, crocodiles, ocelots, jaguars, herons, toucans, hawks and eagles, among others.

Kolem-Jaa – Lies 95 km (59 mi) south of Villahermosa. This 27-hectare (67-acre) ecotourism center has a wide variety of endemic flora. Here you can observe flora and fauna at a botanical garden and along various trails that allow you the opportunity to spot reptiles, birds and deer.
