Alvarez del Toro Regional
Zoo.
Located in El Zapotal Ecological
Reserve, south of Tuxtla Gutierrez.
This
area is
covered with
medium jungle
growth to
mimic the
natural habitat of
species that
live in the
region, including
endangered species
like the
pavon (a large
endemic turkey)
and the
resplendent quetzal.
The zoo
also has special
areas where
you can observe nocturnal
species. Open
Tuesday through
Sunday from
8:00 to 4:00.
