In Tlaxcala’s surroundings, there are several excellent places to go camping with ravines and streams, where you’ll also find abundant vegetation.

Parque Nacional La Malinche (Malinche National Park). Located 26 km (16 mi) east of Tlaxcala and 13 km (8 mi) west of Huamantla off Highway 136. This is the city’s main ecological reserve due to the abundant coniferous forest that covers most of its 45,711 hectares (112,906 acres). In this park you’ll find the Matlacoeyatl Volcano, or La Malinche, which is 4,461 meters (14,721 feet) above sea level. It is the sixth highest peak in Mexico. This 2-hectare (5-acre) park has wide valleys, streams, ravines and a lush forest, making it a perfect spot for camping. The camping grounds can accommodate up to 100 groups.

Llanos de Teopan. Located in Tlaxco, 45 km (28 mi) north of Tlaxcala off Highway 119.  Here you’ll find ideal plains for camping, which are surrounded by lush forest landscape.

Valle al Final de la Senda. Located 60 km (37 mi) north of Tlaxcala and 13 km (8 mi) northeast of Tlaxco, off Highway 119. In this valley covered with copious forest vegetation you’ll find flat plains where you can go camping.
