In Taxco you can witness some of the most important religious
celebrations in the nation, particularly those that are held during
Easter holidays in March and April.
During
these festivities,
on the
main streets
you’ll see a
series of
processions carried out by
various religious
organizations. The
most notable
procession is
that of
the so-called
hooded flagellants,
who carry
large bundles
of thorny
branches to
renounce their
sins. On
Jan. 17 and
18, animals receive
blessings during
the Santa Prisca
Festival, which
includes a fair, live music
and fireworks..
