Near Taxco you can visit an archaeological zone where you’ll see structures that were built of fine marble stones.

Ixcateopan de CuauhtemocLocated 36 km (22 mi) west of Taxco. This is a pre-Hispanic settlement that served as religious ceremonial grounds, as well as a commercial and administrative center. Among the most notable sights are a structure with various rooms and a rotund edifice, both of which were built of marble and limestone and coated with stucco and red paint. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 5:00.
