At the nature reserves in San Miguel de Allende’s surrounding areas you can enjoy fascinating hikes in beautiful natural settings as you observe the regional flora and fauna.

Jardin Botanico El Charco del Ingenio. Located 2.5 km (1 mi) northeast of San Miguel de Allende, off Highway 1. This 100-hectare (247-acre) ecological reserve was created to protect and conserve the region’s wildlife. At this spot you can observe endemic flora and a wide variety of endangered species.

Orquideario Los Pocitos. Located on Santo Domingo Street. This place has a diverse collection of orchids. Open Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 4:00, Saturdays from 10:00 to 2:00 and Sundays by appointment only.

Jardin Botanico CANTE. Located at 71 Mesones Steet. This 100-hectare (247-acre) protected area was created by civil association CANTE in order to conduct research and observe the natural habitat of the region’s native species. Part of the botanical garden is used to cultivate more than 1,000 cactus and orchid species of diverse classes and origins...
