The city of San Luis Potosi is located in Mexico’s central region, in the state of San Luis Potosi. It lies 190 km (118 mi) from Zacatecas. The climate in this area varies considerably; the average year-round temperature is 17º C (63º F).

Known as the City of Seven Neighborhoods, San Luis Potosi stands out for its beautiful baroque and neoclassical architecture, as you’ll see in such buildings as the Teatro de la Paz and El Templo de San Francisco. The city also offers interesting cultural attractions like the Federico Silva Museum, which boasts Latin America’s first-ever contemporary sculpture collection. There’s also the Centro Taurino Potosino, which houses regional history and cultural exhibits.

In the surrounding areas you can discover gorgeous natural settings like the Laguna de Media Luna (Half Moon Lagoon), an ideal spot for scuba diving, camping and ecotourism outings. In addition, you can check out the Sotano de las Golondrinas, an incredible abyss that drops 512 meters (1,690 feet), and the Sotano de las Guaguas, which has one of the biggest caves in the world with a ceiling that is 291 meters (960 feet) high. Finally, don’t forget to visit ghost town Real de Catorce, an old mining town full of magic and legends.

In addition to all that, San Luis Potosi has a rich culinary offering, swimming resorts and excellent nightlife, making it a hard place to forget.
