One of San Blas’ main festivities is held on Feb. 2 in honor of the Virgin de la Candelaria (Virgen of Candlemas). The following day San Blas celebrates its patron saint with a fair, processions and dance performances. Also in February you can witness the city’s Carnival. On June 29, in Mexcaltitan, the Fiesta de San Pedro y San Pablo takes place, which features a row boat race between two crews. One of the boats has imagery of San Pedro (St. Paul), while the other has ornamentation of San Pablo (St. Peter). Locals believe the event brings good luck to fishermen throughout the year...
