Fishing is yet another of the many recreational activities you can do in the city’s surrounding areas. At the nearby fishing spots you can catch mirror carp and black bass. In fact, every April a black bass fishing tournament takes place at the Jalpan Dam.

Presa Jalpan (Jalpan Dam) – Located off the San Juan del Rio-Xilitla Highway 120, in the direction of Sierra Gorda. Here you can hook various species, including black bass, tilapia, mirror carp and common carp. This spot hosts the Annual Black Bass Fishing Tournament in April.

Presa de San Pedro (San Pedro Dam) – Located 20 km (12 mi) from the city of Queretaro, of the Queretaro-Huimilpan Highway 400. At this place you can catch silver carp and mirror carp while fishing in a beautiful natural environment..
