If you’re looking for adventure in beautiful natural settings, in Queretaro’s surrounding areas you’ll find good places for mountain biking, paragliding and hot air balloon rides.

Tequisquiapan. Located 74 km (46 mi) east of the city of Queretaro and 20 km (12 mi) from San Juan del Rio. This beautiful colonial town has mountain biking routes of varying difficulty levels for beginners and experts alike. You can rent bicycles in the town.

Jalpan. At this place you can enjoy challenging mountain biking routes with steep slopes and trails. You’ll find it a truly pleasurable experience.

Ladera de Queretaro. In the city of Queretaro, next to the Centro-Sur shopping center, you’ll find a 200-meter (660-foot) hillside that is ideal for paragliding. This place has ideal winds, allowing you to soar in the air for many hours.

San Juan del Rio. Located 52 km (32 mi) from Queretaro. At this place you can visit Rancho el Siete, which offers various hot air balloon rides, such as the Mixteco, which carries two passengers; the Bufon, which holds four people; and the larger Trompo, which accommodates 10 riders. The balloons rise 400 to 450 meters (1,320 to 1,485 feet) in the air. Most of them will take you over Tequisquiapan, affording you a beautiful view of the rivers and mountains below..
