In Puerto Vallarta you can do various outdoor activities, such as horseback riding, which is a good way to see the magical forest landscapes. During the excursion, you can take a mountain path flanked by lush tropical vegetation; the trail ends at a hidden waterfall in a small canyon. You can also live the exciting experience of a canopy tour in the heart of a forest, as you glide down cables from platform to platform. This adventure tour is relatively close, about 45 minutes from the harbor.

Rancho el Charro and Ojo de Agua The first of these two places is located on Francisco Villa Avenue and the second is in the Las Aralias neighborhood. These ranches offer horseback trips up the mountains, where one can take in a beautiful view of the Banderas Bay.

Jungle Trip - A long horse ride through the jungle allows you to admire some spectacular scenery, made up of traditional villages and regional wildlife. Along the route you can eat and swim. It is recommended that you bring mosquito repellant, sunscreen lotion and a hat and sunglasses. It’s also a good idea to travel light.

Canopy Tour – Located just 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta at the ecological reserve Vallarta Adventure. During the canopy tour, you’ll be able to hover high above the tropical landscape, at heights ranging from four to 21 meters (13 to 69 feet), using pulleys and cables. It takes about two hours and we recommend wearing pants or shorts, tennis shoes (sneakers es para los gringos), insect repellant and a light jacket. You can bring a small backpack, as long as it allows you to keep your hands free. Children wanting to go on the tour must be at least eight years old and 1.40 meters tall (4 feet 7 inches).

Las Animas - Here you can horseback ride along the fine gray sands of the beach and you can even grab a mango off one of the trees growing between the palms and the prickly pear cacti.

Playa de Oro - This 700-meter (2,300-foot) stretch of beach allows you to go on an unforgettable horseback ride as your horse gallops across the sand.

Yelapa - This beautiful beach of fine sand, gentle surf and spectacular landscape is ideal for walks or horse rides...
