Near Pachuca you can admire the archaeological ruins of Tula, the mysterious capital of the Toltecs and one of the most important cities of ancient Mexico.

Tula – Located 1 km (a half mile) west of the town of Tula de Allende and 76 km (47 mi) west of Pachuca. At this site you can see important structures such as the Atlantes sculptures, enormous statues of warriors that stand 4.8 meters (nearly 16 feet) tall. You’ll also see a ball court and the Palacio Quemado (Burned Palace), which features a façade with images of what appear to be marching priest figures. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 6:00.
