Merida is a city that has numerous cultural and sports centers offering a wide variety of activities and events for all tastes. Among the most important are:

Corazon de MeridaThis is a weekly event that takes place in the downtown Historic Center on 60th Street and 62nd Street featuring lives performances by singers, various artists and mariachis. Restaurants and cafes place tables on the sidewalks so that you can enjoy the show. Begins every Saturday at 8:30 pm.

Merida en Domingo This show, which has been a big hit for more than 10 years, is held in the main square, and at city parks Hidalgo, Santa Lucia de la Madre and Las Americas. The main attraction is the presentation of the city’s folkloric ballet, known as the Ballet Folclorico de Ayuntamiento. There are also diverse musical acts.

Festival de Aves de YucatanThe main objective of this festival is to promote the protection of the region’s bird species. It takes place during the third week of November. During the festival, which is also called Toh, many companies offer guided tours to observe the flora and fauna near Merida.

Teatro Jose Peon ContrerasLocated at 60th Street and 57th Street in Merida, the façade of this theater stands out for its Italian neo-classical style. Inside you’ll find a spacious lobby with a marble staircase, as well as an excellent events room with a golden dome and paintings depicting themes of Greek theater. Open daily from 7:00 to 7:00.

Teatro Daniel AyalaThis is a 17th-century construction that it is considered to have one of the best stages in the region. It also has art exhibits and diverse expositions. Located at 499 60th Street, between 59th Street and 61st Street.

Parque de Beisbol Kukulcan This is the home park of Mexican baseball team the Leones of Yucatan, one of the strongest sports traditions in the region, where baseball is more popular than soccer, Mexico’s national pastime.
