Outside of Merida, you’ll find various white-sand beaches with gentle surf, where you can do many different water sports, enjoy the local Yucatecan cuisine and take in the lovely landscape.

Puerto ProgresoLocated 36 km (22 mi) north of Merida on Highway 261, this is the coast of Yucatan’s most important port. The climate is hot and arid with rainfall from June to September. A beach with calm waters where you can do various water sports or simply bask in the sun and enjoy the pleasant scenery of the Yucatan coast.

Telchac PuertoIts clear and calm waters make it the ideal place to do various water sports. Nearby is the beautiful Rosada Lagoon, home to thousands of migratory birds. Located 69 km (42 mi) northeast of Merida on Highway 281.

Sisal This beautiful beach with gentle surf is ideal for rest and relaxation. Nearby, you can visit el Convento de San Bernardino, a convent built in the 16th century. You can also see el Guardafaros, an ancient castle of Sisal. Both places allow you to learn more about Merida’s past and its surrounding areas. Sisal lies 52 km (32 mi) northeast of Merida on Highway 281..
