Merida has various parks with beautiful gardens and zoos where you can take a pleasant stroll as you admire some of the region's most important indigenous animal species.

Parque de las AmericasThis park has the most beautiful gardens in the city and magnificent architectural structures such as the concha acustica (acoustical conch) and pergolas with columns and pillars that will remind you of the constructions at the Chichen Itza archaeological zone. Located on 20th Street and Colon Avenue.

Zoologico Parque CentenarioThis zoo has an aquarium and a bird sanctuary where you can observe some of the regional species. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:00 to 5:00. Located at Avenida de los Itzaes and 59th Street.

El Planetario Arcadio Poveda RicaldeThis planetarium has a theater with state-of-the-art technology to project images and create a space-like atmosphere, thanks to its surround sound, making it Ideal for children and teens. Located at 62nd Street between 61st Street and 63rd Street in the Centro Cultural de Merida Olimpo.

Reserva Ecologica Fauna Regional del Mayab - More than 90 species characteristic of the Mexico’s south and southeast regions inhabit this ecological reserve, such as birds, monkeys and beautiful felines like the jaguar and the ocelot, among other endangered species.
