Mazatlan has become a world famous surf spot thanks to the magnificent waves at some of its beaches. The best time of year to hit the surf is between May and September when the waves are bigger. You can rent surfboards and wetsuits on the beaches.

Playa Olas Altas – Located in Old Mazatlan in the center of the port. This picturesque beach is unique because the shore shifts depending on the time of year, creating the appearance that the rocks have changed position. As its name suggests (High Waves Beach), this is the ideal place to go surfing, and it’s even better when the weather conditions are optimal.

Playa Norte – This beach stretches from the edge of the city to the Zona Dorada, about 60 km (37 mi) west of downtown Mazatlan. In the northern region is a spot known as Las Jacarandas, which offers excellent surfing conditions due to its strong waves and currents.

Playa Bruja – Located 38 km (24 mi) north of Mazatlan. This beautiful beach with gray-sand beaches, palapas and hammocks has moderate waves and a gentle slope, allowing you to get in some good surfing
