Every step along the way you’ll notice Mazatlan’s rich architecture, such as its important monuments and fascinating colonial buildings. The city’s public squares are favorite gathering spots for locals and tourists alike.

Catedral Basilica de la Inmaculada ConcepcionLocated on Calle 21 de Marzo, the architectural design of this cathedral blends Morisco and Gothic styles. Alongside the altars you’ll find aesthetically magnificent frescoes depicting religious scenes.

Plazuela de la RepublicaLocated on Avenida Benito Juarez in the Historic Center. This is the city’s main square, where you can see important structures such as the Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepcion, the Palacio Municipal and the main telegraph and postal buildings. The plaza also hosts art festivals and has a restaurant near the pavilion.

Plazuela MachadoLocated on Avenida Benito Juarez at the corner of Gabriel Leyva. This is one of the oldest squares in the city. As part of the carnival’s festivities, it hosts an annual food festival with dishes from some of the area’s most important restaurants. In addition, book fairs, art exhibitions and other cultural events take place in the plaza..
