Catedral
Basilica de la Inmaculada
Concepcion
– Located on
Calle 21 de Marzo, the
architectural
design of
this cathedral
blends Morisco and
Gothic styles.
Alongside the
altars you’ll
find aesthetically
magnificent
frescoes depicting
religious scenes.
Plazuela
de la Republica
– Located on
Avenida Benito Juarez in
the Historic
Center. This
is the
city’s main
square, where
you can see
important
structures such as
the Catedral de la Inmaculada
Concepcion, the
Palacio Municipal and
the main
telegraph and
postal buildings.
The plaza also
hosts art
festivals and
has a restaurant
near the
pavilion.
Plazuela
Machado
– Located on
Avenida Benito Juarez
at the
corner of Gabriel
Leyva. This
is one of
the oldest
squares in the
city. As part
of the
carnival’s
festivities, it
hosts an
annual food
festival with
dishes from
some of the
area’s most
important
restaurants. In addition,
book fairs,
art exhibitions
and other
cultural events
take place in the plaza..
