Loreto is considered a paradise when it comes to preparing classic Baja California cuisine. Among the most popular dishes you can try here are fajitas, machaca de res (dried beef), ceviche de pescado (fish ceviche), fish tacos, fish fillets in salsa, scallops and lobster. You also can indulge in seafood soup and clams prepared with melted cheese or marinated in escabeche. Another local delicacy is almejas tatemadas, clams cooked on a hot bed of gravel, which are prepared al gusto (as you like). As for drinks, you can order the traditional clamato (which consists of tomato juice, spices and clams), liqueurs, damiana tea and white and red wines.
