The delicious cuisine of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo stands out for its fish and seafood dishes, including pescada a la talla (grilled fish), camaronillas (shrimp tacos), tiritas (strips of marinated fish) and tacos de pescado (fish tacos). In the downtown areas you’ll find stalls serving tamales, atoles (cornmeal beverages), tacos de pollo con consome (chicken tacos with consommé), chalupitas (tortillas layered with various ingredients), Guerrero-style pozole (a hominy soup) and even international fare. In Ixtapa, the most popular alcoholic drink is mezcal, which is produced locally.
