In Cuernavaca you can marvel at the beautiful plazas and gardens that have become important city symbols. You’ll also be able to appreciate old buildings of great historical and cultural value.

Catedral y Convento de la Asuncion – Located between Av. Hidalgo and Morelos. This compound has three churches and a chapel, which is said to be the oldest chapel on the American continent. The cloister houses valuable frescos of Saint Philip of Jesus, a Franciscan martyr in Japan.

Palacio de Cortes – Located between Av. Hidalgo and Blvd. Juarez. Perched atop a hill, this medieval-style fortress was the residence of conquistador Hernan Cortes. The edifice has high walls, ramparts and a large tower. This is the oldest example of viceregal architecture on the American continent. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 5:00.

Jardin Borda – Located at 271 Av. Morelos. These gardens were built around courtyards, fountains, a church and other buildings. Considered an important city symbol due to its beautiful local and European flora, here you’ll also find the Morelos Cultural Institute’s main office...
