The most awaited celebration of the year takes place during Holy Week in Norogachi, 60 km (37 mi) north of Guachochi. This festivity draws people from various Raramuri communities, who paint their bodies and offer dance and ceremonial performances. While witnessing this mystical celebration you should show the utmost respect; if you decide to take photos or video footage, you should ask for permission first. Other important celebrations include the San Francisco Javier Fair, which is held on Dec. 3 in Urique; the San Juanito Fair, which takes place from Jun. 17 – 25 in Bocoyna; and the Mushroom Fair, which runs from Aug. 12 – 15 in Bocoyna..
